UF Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI), located in Jacksonville, Florida, has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant in the Finance Department. UFHPTI is the first proton therapy center in the Southeast U.S. with state-of-the-art proton therapy techniques and medical professionals, we are committed to providing excellent, effective, and safe proton therapy to cancer patients. UFHPTI is equipped with proton and photon radiation therapy modalities and imaging systems.

This position is responsible for maintaining all General Ledger activity and preparation of the monthly financial package to include proper review and analysis of account activity, maintaining various worksheet calculations for journal entry preparation and running reports from a variety of sources.  Responsible for understanding a wide variety of operational processes within the company and interacting with staff and management throughout UFHPTI. Includes providing ongoing documentation of accounting processes/changes and responsible for filing various tax and government reports.  He/She ensures that the records are accurate to analyze the current financial status of the organization and assists the internal and external auditors. This position works in close coordination with the other accounting staff.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have the following:

  • Master’s degree in accounting required.
  • 3 to 5 years prior experience in applicable finance field, preferably healthcare.
  • Understanding of proper GAAP accounting principles.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and detailed orientated.
  • Must have the ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Must be an effective problem solver with analytical aptitude to work with detailed transactions and recognize problems.
  • Ability to understand and identify the need for proper internal financial controls for the company.
  • Ability to coach junior level associates and process improvement skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and good understanding of accounting software. This includes the ability to learn beyond the current level of understanding.
  • Ability to provide a high level of service to internal customer’s requests and provide deliverables in a timely manner.
  • CPA required
