Dr. William (Bill) Mendenhall is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology in the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is a frequent contributor to medical journals, with more than 900 published works, and has spoken at over 150 national and international oncology conferences. Dr. Mendenhall is regularly invited to speak as a visiting professor at well-known medical centers and programs. He is committed to keeping up with the most recent research and is currently the Operating Editor of the International Journal of Particle Therapy. Dr. Mendenhall is an Editorial Board Member for over 7 additional journals including the International Journal of Head and Neck Surgery. In addition, he received the 2020 UF College of Medicine Faculty Council Lifetime Achievement Award and is recognized in publications such as The Best Doctors in America and America's Top Doctors. 

Dr. Mendenhall has been a Coordinator for the Annual UF Radiation Oncology Research Seminar since 1992. He has also been appointed the University of Florida Resident Alumni Professorship in Radiation Oncology and is dedicated to educating future generations of radiation oncologists. In addition to his focus on treating prostate cancer with proton therapy, Dr. Mendenhall is recognized as an expert in head and neck cancers and skin cancers.

Dr. Mendenhall is a leader in research in the areas of prostate cancer, head and neck cancer and skin cancer. He collaborates on research with fellow researchers at the University of Florida, as well as many national and international experts. Dr. Mendenhall contributed to international guidelines on the treatment of nasopharyngeal cancers, which are published in the Radiotherapy & Oncology and International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics. With over 900 published peer-reviews articles, Dr. Mendenhall is known as an expert in radiation oncology around the world.
