Join Other Proton Alums and Caregivers and Tell Elected Representatives to Exclude Proton Therapy from Medicare’s RO APM

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, recently announced final plans to implement in January an experimental reimbursement policy that will drastically reduce Medicare payments for proton therapy services for a select group of providers. Unfortunately, the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI) has been randomly selected to participate in this experiment. The experiment, referred to as the Radiation Oncology Alternative Payment Model, or RO APM, will force UFHPTI to face very serious financial challenges in continuing to achieve our mission of providing excellent patient care and research.

RO APM UPDATE

Your voice is making a difference! On December 9, 2021, Congress passed a bill postponing the implementation of reimbursement cuts, including Medicare's RO APM, until January 2023.

Thank you for all you've done to reach out in support of the proton therapy community. We are hopeful that by continuing to share our stories and evidence-based research showing the true value of proton therapy, we will succeed.
