Executive Director’s Message – October 2025

Kristin A. Heath, DBA, MBA, MHA

In August, the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute proudly celebrated 19 years of caring for patients with cancer. As the first center in the Southeast to treat cancer with proton beam therapy, we remain committed to advancing patient-centered care and research that continues to make a difference every day.

During our recent Employee Appreciation Week, we recognized the incredible dedication of our staff, highlighting not only their hard work, but also the meaningful impact it has on patients and on the future of cancer treatment. At one event, we were honored to welcome breast cancer survivor and world-champion athlete, Pam Reckner, whose inspiring story embodies strength and hope. We also presented a documentary highlighting the origins of treating cancer with proton therapy. In October, we will share this film with community leaders, joining with other cancer treatment centers in Northeast Florida to demonstrate the importance of innovation in cancer care and its impact on our community.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support as we work together to advance cancer research and advocate for the best in patient care.
