Good News Friday brought to you by UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. Toni Renna checked in from The Villages where her wonderful doctor about three years ago urged her to have CAT scans. She's a smoker after all. So in 2022, they found a nodule in her right lung. Within a year, it had started to grow. A biopsy later confirmed stage one lung cancer. They wanted to remove a portion of her lung initially, but a friend in their neighborhood told Toni that he had recently been treated at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville for prostate cancer. So Toni and her husband started to look into it. She made an appointment for the next week. Treatment started immediately thereafter.
