Patients and their loved ones tell us that having a supportive community has a profound effect on how they cope with their cancer diagnosis and treatment. We strive to have opportunities for patients to interact safely in the lobby before treatment and at facilitated group meetings.

Proton Therapy Helps Eddie Watts Stay Active
Eddie Watts is just on the other side of his prostate cancer treatment and is joyful to have found proton therapy. He is continuing the next leg of his journey through life where his friends will often find him on the golf course or in a heated pickle ball match.

Patient Ambassador Advocates Prostate Cancer Awareness and Screening

Patient alum and ambassador Lee Moultrie III is on a mission to spread the word about prostate cancer and proton therapy. He was featured recently in an article in The Post and Courier, Charleston, S.C.

In Memoriam – Ruby Henderson

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Ruby Henderson passed away. She was our first volunteer, starting a mere seven months after we treated our first patient.

The 15thAnnual Pink Ribbon Symposium is a free community event to promote breast cancer awareness, support breast cancer survivors and provide information on making healthy lifestyle choices. This event includes presentations by local healthcare professionals including a discussion of updates in radiation treatment options for breast cancer. American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of the First Coast – 5K Walk
Saturday, October 22, 2022 @ 8 - 11am

Jaguars Stadium, TIAA Bank Field-East Club Plaza, 1 TIAA Field Drive, Jacksonville, FL

Join UF Health Proton Therapy Institute employees as we walk 3.1 miles to honor patients, caregivers, family & friends affected by breast cancer. We will also have a table to share info about the benefits of proton therapy for breast cancer! Enjoy family activities before & after the walk at the TIAA Field! Registration begins at 8:00 am and the walk begins at 9:00 am. Join our team by August 31st AND donate at least $25, and you will receive a Free “No One Fights Alone” pink t-shirt!

This conference is coordinated by nationally known advocates who have been patients & caregivers themselves. Don't miss this chance to interact with, and learn from both local and national experts. Sessions will include over a dozen different subjects, moderated Q&A, and handouts. There will be something for everyone - from the newly diagnosed, to advanced prostate cancer, caregivers, and more.
