Unlike traditional X-ray radiation, protons can be precisely controlled, allowing our physicians to deliver high doses of radiation directly to the site of a brain tumor. Proton therapy eliminates the exit dose common in traditional radiation treatments, protecting sensitive tissues that surround the tumor and making it an ideal treatment for many cancer types.

Brain tumors can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, but a combined approach is often recommended to ensure all cancer cells are eradicated. When radiation is required, proton therapy may be the optimal treatment choice to maximize the chances of tumor control while lessening the risk of side effects.
