Executive Director’s Message – April 2024

As we enter the spring months, it's a time of recognition for the invaluable contributions of our healthcare professionals. We honor child life specialists, Doctors' Day and National Nurses Week during this time. At the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, our team is instrumental in making our cancer treatment facility world-renowned.

From the moment you reach out to us, through your treatment journey and into survivorship, our priority is your care and well-being. Our experts and compassionate staff are committed to supporting you every step of the way.

The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute are Experts in Treating Oral, Head and Neck Cancers

April is Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month. The physicians at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute are experts in treating this serious disease. Head and neck cancers are effectively treated with proton therapy, sometimes in combination with other treatment methods, delivering highly precise radiation to the cancer, while sensitive structures like the jawbone, salivary glands, eyes and spinal cord receive less radiation.

March is Child Life Specialist Month and the Institute is Taking Child Life Care Into the Future

The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute’s pediatric program is built on the recognition that successful pediatric care involves far more than high-speed particles and advanced physics. Our pediatric program places equal emphasis on the overall well-being of our young patients and their families, ensuring a holistic approach to their healthcare journey.

Brain Cancer

Survivor Spotlight: Abbie (Dunn) Few

In April, Abbie (Dunn) Few and her husband Mike celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary. The anniversary is more than a celebration of marriage for Abbie and her family. It’s a reminder that Abbie is thriving and moving forward after a brain cancer diagnosis in 2013.

Go Grey in May for Brain Cancer Awareness
