UF Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI), located in Jacksonville, Florida, has an immediate opening for a full-stack Software Engineer. Under the direction of the Director of Physics or his/her designee, this position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, support, and improvement of software and applicable hardware tools, systems, and packages supporting advanced radiotherapy management, planning, delivery, and clinical outcomes research.   

Job functions include: Assisting faculty physicists, in conjunction with the IT Services Department, to identify and recommend the technical resources required of software packages in support of UFPHTI’s clinical operations and outcomes research activities. Developing computer software packages in support of clinical operations and clinical R&D activities at UFHPTI and developing computer algorithms that may be required in support of clinical operations and clinical R & D activities at UFPHTI. Candidate will be collaborating with vendor software engineers in design and implementation of interfaces to existing UFHPTI radiotherapy simulation, treatment planning, treatment delivery, quality assurance, and management hardware and software systems as well as providing continuing improvement of such software packages and perform validation testing of such software packages as appropriate.

Qualified candidates must be/have the following:

  • Fluent in Python, C#, and SQL database programming strongly preferred.
  • ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, WFA preferred.
  • Familiarity working with APIs.
  • Familiarity with user interface design.
  • Above-average mathematics skills for implementation of data analysis algorithms.
  • Effective in making judgements on planning and accomplishing goals.  
  • Quick learner / good at researching, reading, digging for answers.
  • Excellent communication skills at technical and non-technical levels. 
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills. 
  • Must have attention to detail and high quality of work. 
  • Ability to manage stressful situations in a calm, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Possesses the drive and ability to see problems through to completion.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific field (such as physics, computer sciences/engineering, electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, etc.) is required.
