The UF Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI), located in Jacksonville, Florida, has an immediate opening for a full-time Child Life Specialist. 

This position is to provide support services to our pediatric patient population. In this position, practical skills that are emphasized, developed and incorporated into daily functioning as a child life specialist will include: 

  • Documenting in patients electronic medical record
  • Dynamic assessment of children's development, understanding and coping
  • Preparation of children for treatment and various procedures
  • Age-appropriate education tailored to patient, siblings, and caregivers
  • Advocating for the role of the CCLS, the patient, and the family among the larger medical team
  • Group presentation skills
  • The CLS will collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team and will perform other duties as assigned.

This position reports to the Director of Social Services.

Qualified candidates must have completed at least a 480 Child Life internship and be certified as a Child Life Specialist or be eligible to sit for certification.  Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.  Must have the ability to think critically and independently and seek to further career development in the Child Life field. Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to multi-task and handle diverse responsibilities.
