The University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute provides more than new cancer treatments for patients throughout the Southeast. Research performed here will benefit tomorrow's cancer patients, as well as patients seeking cancer treatment in other parts of the country. Opportunities for giving to UFPTI are plentiful, and allow you to take an active part in the development of innovative new techniques in the treatment of cancer.

Giving Opportunities

At the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute, today's patients will benefit from a new cancer treatment -- one that delivers a precise beam of radiation on tumors with little or no damage to healthy tissues. Future patients will benefit from the knowledge gained through clinical studies and research. Research pushes the boundaries of the technology to fully harness the promise of proton therapy for improved treatment and cure.

Today's treatments and tomorrow's cures are possible through the generosity of individuals like you. Gifts and pledges to the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute may be designated for facilities, equipment, or for the critical endowments that will support research, key investigators, clinicians and graduate fellows and students. Private gifts and pledges are needed for the following areas:

* These funds can be specified for physics, biology, or clinical research and may be directed to a particular disease such as breast, prostate, pediatric, lung, head and neck, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, eye disorders and sarcoma malignancies. Named endowments may be established with an initial gift of $20,000.

How to make a gift or pledge

Under current law, major gifts for endowments for research and instruction, and for the construction and renovation of facilities, are eligible for State of Florida matching funds. You may wish to make your gift to memorialize a loved one or to honor your family, a friend, a colleague or perhaps even your physician. Your tribute can recognize a special person while assisting the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute.

Gifts may be made a number of ways:

  • Personal checks for outright gifts and payments on pledges
  • Transfer of stocks, bonds and real estate
  • Through estate planning (e.g. charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities) and through outright bequests
